Active and Adventure Travel
Exploring off-the-beaten path places and being adventurous by biking, hiking, and the like
Action and adventure travel refers to journeys centered on physically engaging and adrenaline-driven experiences, often set in natural or remote environments. It includes activities such as trekking through rugged terrain, white-water rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, scuba diving and wildlife safaris. These trips typically combine challenging outdoor pursuits with elements of exploration and discovery.

Types of Adventure Travel
If you like to be active and, possibly, more independent when you travel, then there are a host of opportunities out there for you. But the first thing to consider is what type of activity you want to pursue on your trip.
-
Trekking & Hiking: From day-hikes to multi-week trails like Patagonia’s Torres del Paine Circuit.
-
Cycling & Mountain Biking: Bike tours across countries (e.g., Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh trail) or rugged off-road single-track.
-
Climbing & Mountaineering: Technical ascents requiring ropes, crampons and high-altitude skills, up to the world’s great peaks.
-
Water activities: Trips can include snorkeling for the novice to scuba for the expert as well as waterskiing, surfing, and more.
-
Taking to the Air: Paragliding, skydiving, hang gliding, and balloon rides can all be the focus of a trip as a way to see a place or to have a special experience.
-
Wildlife Safaris: Traditional African game drives, polar-bear or penguin safaris in the Arctic/Antarctica, jungle wildlife treks.
-
Motorized Overlanding: Self-sufficient 4×4 journeys through deserts, savannas or mountains, camping en route.
-
Multisport Adventures: Combined itineraries—e.g. hiking + cycling + kayaking in one trip.
